THE COLOURIST PLAY THE BOWERY BALLROOM

The indie pop band, The Colourist, played to a packed house Monday night at Bowery Ballroom.

Opening the night were two four-piece bands from New York. Punk band Mainland started the night, followed by indie rockers, Field Mouse.

Despite the spelling of their name, they hail from Orange County, CA, not from somewhere in Europe. As a matter of fact, singer/guitarist Adam Castilla told a story about the drive from CA to NY. They were unaware that their Sprinter Van was not allowed on a passenger vehicles only roadway. After narrowly making a 9’ underpass with their 9’ plus van, they “were able to see the stars” when they attempted the 8’ underpass. Regardless the show went on! The highlight for me had to be Maya Tuttle. Not only can this girl sing…she does it while amazingly pounding on the drums barefoot. They played all their songs from their only album The Colourist including the hit “Little Games”.
