As the summer, crop tops, and short shorts are slowly coming to an end, House of Vans did an amazing job of selecting Holy Ghost! , Kim Ann Foxman, and Dave P to end the summer music series with an unforgettable night for music lovers.
Once you got to the House of Vans, you could feel the bass fill out the neighborhood and see Dave P getting warmed up to get the crowd ready to dance. The night started with an attractive crowd and amazing cold brewskies. Dave P is best known for his Fixed parties with JDH, as soon as he got on his turntables you couldn’t stand a chance of not dancing. Each song filled the space with amazing bass lines and transitioning into a memorable set. The flow between sets was perfectly timed as Kim Ann Foxman followed right after, who is also a well known member of the band “Hercules & Love Affair. Her set kept the crowd dancing to classic house, acid, and disco; as the night was only getting started.
The lights dimmed and the crowd started screaming in joy, the indie disco duo Holy Ghost! started making their way onto the stage. The band began with an infectious tune “It’s Not Over”, they have a charming presence that will win you over within seconds. They are truly a band not to be missed because they will make you dance even if you have no dancing skills whatsoever; this is true to the fact that even the photographers in the pit were dancing along with each other. They did a great mix of new songs off their latest album “Dynamics” and their first self titled album. The lead singer, Alex Frankel has a boyish charm that adds to his stage presence, drinking a beer and lighting up a cigarette is the touch of cool that Holy Ghost! emanates. With each song; the lights, the music, and the crowd became part of an unbelievable way to finish the week and House of Vans parties. Holy Ghost! is definitely a band that I would love to get whiskey shots with and wander around Lower East Side for fun. Check out this sweet video we found of Holy Ghost! to see what you shouldn’t miss next year at House Of Vans.
