COOL GHOULS PLAY THE CAKE SHOP

I haven’t covered a lot of shows so far this year, but the ones that I have decided to attend for a review have been nothing short of great entertainment. That streak carried on into Thursday night at Cake Shop to check out Cool Ghouls. It seemed pretty appropriate that the band from the hippie city of San Francisco has a very late 60’s Summer of Love vibe to their music. Mixing pretty solid reverb tones with their harmonic three-person vocals, very much like the late 60s rock sounds coming from bands like The Byrds.

Although their set was a little shorter than I would have hoped, a relatively packed basement of Cake Shop got to enjoy a good set with songs from their two albums, including “Across The River”, “Things I Seen,” “What A Dream I Had,” and my favorite of the night- “First Taste of Spring.”
