T-PAIN DOMINATES THE MUSIC HALL

Converse has long been in the busy of improving lives one step at a time, but their Rubber Tracks Live initiative really came through with an incredible lineup featuring ATL native BOSCO, and the man that put auto tune in the forefront for the majority of the early 2000’s, none other than T-Pain.

First of all, BOSCO had incredible energy. She used every inch of that stage and connected with just about everyone in the audience in some way. She even took the time to call out people texting in the front row. Alternating between rapping and singing, in a split second she was commanding the stage, and the next, she was down in the crowd rapping into the faces of the stunned audience, earning applause and cheers for her efforts. Her set closed with a tribute to another woman accompanying her on turntables, Speakerfoxxx. We all pulled out our phones to Snapchat and Instagram a round of “Happy Birthday” before they retreated to the backstage area.

Following a bit of technical difficulties, members of T-Pain’s entourage floated out onto the stage 1 by 1, signaling the start of the show.  Now we’ve all seen the videos – the bonafide proof that T-Pain can sing exceptionally well. Nothing could have prepared me for exactly how good he would be live, AND exactly how many hit songs he has accumulated over the years. I also didn’t know how well T-Pain could dance. Performing a variety of moves, even pop-locking across the stage at multiple points during the night, it was clear that he was a seasoned entertainer.

Inherently funny, and instantly engaging, he performed for roughly 2 hours, only stopping to crack jokes and talk to the audience or band members. About the halfway mark, he announced he would perform a new song called “Look At Me,” and said that T-Pain Thursdays, where he would release a new song, would be returning. Cheers erupted from the sold-out crowd. Personally, I was never a huge T-Pain fan, but he made a new fan in me after this performance.
