“You guys, we’re on a planet together in space, and it’s really crazy and weird!” Genevieve could have won Baby’s over with her energy alone, but she had a lot more in store. Nevertheless, she came in bouncing and filled with joy at the thought of us all being alive on one big, floating rock. (It is pretty crazy).
Armed with her fiery red hair and fierce vocals, she tore up some seriously tricky solo passages on songs from her forthcoming debut album. Her set kicked off with “Ready or Not,” “Human Again,” “The Enemy,” “Momma,” and a nice cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” – which she got everyone to sing along to.
She wrapped with “Spotlight,” “The Other Side,” “For You,” “Authority,” “Thinkin’ Bout You,” “Show Your Colors,” and “Butterfly,” and there wasn’t a note that didn’t sound rich. Whenever she hit an impact, she got a huge scream from the crowd. And every scream for Genevieve is well deserved.
