JOE MARSON ROCKS HARD IN NEW PSYCHEDELIC VIDEO FOR ‘NO RETREAT’ (NSFW)

We’re really digging the new music video from Joe Marson, which just premiered last week and thrusts his latest single, “No Retreat,” into a dizzying, desert-set vision of lust and betrayal. In the far-out premiere, directed and produced entirely by Marson himself, the LA-based singer and guitarist shows off not only his well-traveled blues rock sensibilities, but his ability to get trippy.

The song opens with a gritty mix of tambourine and slide guitar (his slick bottleneck skills on full display later on in the video), and Marson strolling alone in an arid wasteland. His mind is soon battered with flashes of fleshy, carnal mirages, which creep into the scene in quick cuts of twisting limbs and mud-covered skin.

Combined with Marson’s down-and-dirty, pure rock-and-roll vocals, there are moments that hearken back to those old photos of Hendrix flanked by topless girls in Maui. But the liberated, 1968 vibe is just one part of the trip, and the intensity of Marson’s lyrics make the full effect both both sexy and scary. See for yourself and check it out up above.
