PANCAKE PICKS: THE BEST SHOWS OF THE WEEK FOR 8-7-17

Well, as usual summer is flying by here in the city, and before we know it the leaves will be dropping and the layers will get thicker. Make the most out of what’s left this summer by catching some gigs, and we’ve made it easy for you with our Pancake Picks below.

Monday

UNI @ Baby’s All Right – The last we saw UNI, they were playing their first official set opening for the Moonlandingz at Rough Trade. Be sure to check out their eclectic brew of psych-rock for free at 7pm sharp.

Ice Balloons @ Baby’s All Right – This “super-group” of sorts, featuring Kyp Malone (TV On The Radio), will have a record release party for their debut LP ‘Fiesta’. This should be a good one for for fans of dark-synth music.

Tuesday

Michelle Branch & Haerts @ Webster Hall – As of right now there are still tickets left to the show, so say goodbye to Webster Hall and enjoy some great music.

Future Thieves @ Mercury Lounge – In this early-show, the rocking band from Nashville will get your week off to a great start.

Wednesday

Donavon Frankenreiter @ Bowery Ballroom – Head down to the Bowery for some chill and fun surfer music from the one and only Donavon Frankenreiter.

Warbly Jets @ Baby’s All Right – Warbly Jets have a new, self-titled, album on the horizon so expect a bevy of new tunes to be played.

Thursday

Bush @ Coney Island Amphitheater –  The 90’s rock band is back in the area after a few years and will bring their classic hits to the shores of Coney Island.

Mustardmind @ Rockwood – The up-and-coming NYC post-rock band hits Rockwood for the first stop of their first ever tour. Come out and send them off the right way.

Friday

RJD2 @ Brooklyn Steel – Sometimes we just want to dance and with the nasty beats RJD2 provides, we will be doing so at Brooklyn Steel.

The Hollows @ Irving Plaza – One of the best folk-rock bands returns to the city, and bring with them a wealth of terrific tunes to get down to. We dug this video for “Jamestown” so much we premiered it last year, so get over to Irving Plaza for a good, foot-stomping time.

Saturday

God Street Wine @ Gramercy Theatre – The legendary NYC jammers have broken up/taken hiatus’ a few times over, and now only play a spattering of gigs. Check them out at the Gramercy, who knows when they’ll be back.

Oberhofer @ Brooklyn Bazaar – Brad Oberhofer brings breezy, catchy and eclectic indie-rock at its best, and in the comfy confines of the bazzar, will be a special night.

Sunday

The Districts @ Rough Trade – Get to Rough Trade early for a FREE afternoon treat with The Districts (1:30pm set). Expect a bunch of new tunes, as their new record drops on 8-11.
