Wednesday October 11, 2107 The Tedeschi Trucks bands continued their Beacon Theater shows for the 7 year. Their sold out, third night of six at the Beacon Theater was nothing less than stellar and the show was filled with pure musical talent such as Atlanta’s own The Wood Brothers, guitarist Jimmy Vivino, and Marcus King of The Marcus King Band.
Tedeschi Trucks Band lit us up by opening with “Are You Ready,” a Sly & The Family Stones cover. With their full on horn section, bongos, back up singers and two drummers just blowing the crowd away. “Made up Mind” and “Do I look Worried” had the crowd on the floor all standing and dancing in their seats and in the aisles. Jimmy Vivino joined in a after a few more songs for a mind blowing version of “Cant Find My Way Home” and “Had to Cry Today,” both Blind Faith covers.
Oliver Wood came back out and joined the entourage again for “Ball and Chain” and “Done Somebody Wrong,” an Elmore James cover. The stage seemed to be growing by the song with every compilation Susan and Derek were throwing at us. Maybe it was me but the crowd seemed to grow larger along with the musical talent on stage as they played “Laugh About It,” “Sticks and Stones” and Johhny Moore’s Three Blazers cover “ How Blue Can You Get?” One thing that was definitely obvious was the smiles on everyone’s faces.
The encore brought out Marcus King and his soul jamming guitar along with The Wood Brothers to Cover “Let Me Roll” a Wings Cover and “For My Friend,” and Bill Withers cover. The last song of the evening was actually a Rolling Stones cover “Sweet Virginia.” Susan, Derek and their full stage band and guests left nothing on the stage at the end of the night. I am so glad I got to experience such musical glory and at the Beacon, what a fantastic night!
